Accounting
noun
The system of recording and summarizing business and financial transactions and analyzing, verifying, and reporting the results.
Example: If the government writes a college a check, then that is an expenditure; if the government makes a loan, then that is, for accounting purposes, an asset.

noun
A person who calculates insurance and annuity premiums, reserves, and dividends.
Example: After 16 years on the job, Albert Moore said he was recently laid off from his position as an actuary at Ohio National Financial Services.
